Nicola Coughlan-inspired makeup: soft brown lash line and pink satin lip in five minutes

Use a soft brown upper-lash mark and one pink satin lip for a compact, defined routine.

A fictional fair-skinned woman with blonde waves and full cheeks wearing a narrow brown outer-lash mark and pink satin lips with a white blouse.

Use one soft brown upper-lash mark and one pink satin lip. Keep both compact, then stop before adding shadow. This original short version borrows the brown-and-pink satin relationship from our Nicola Coughlan-inspired edit, with a fictional adult model rather than a claim about her routine.

The useful order

After your usual preparation and protection, look into a stable mirror while stationary. With a familiar brown eye pencil, make small marks immediately above the outer upper lashes on the external lid. Connect only the gaps you can see comfortably. Keep the mark narrow and end at the corner. A clean small eye brush can soften the top edge without spreading it into a whole-lid wash.

Apply pink satin lip colour in a thin layer through the centre and towards the natural edge. Open the mouth a little and check the corners. Pick the pink for its visible depth on your own lips: a shade that disappears may need a different depth, rather than repeated coats of the same product. Satin describes the surface you want; the product’s name alone does not prove how it will look.

A soft brown upper-lash edge sits beside a pink satin lip; no additional shadow is required.

If one part becomes too strong

Reduce the part that went beyond your intention. Lift the end of an overlong brown line with a suitable clean applicator. If the mouth is overloaded, remove a little evenly and tidy its edge; do not add another eye shade merely to balance it. The lip should be clear, with a small eye boundary beside it.

Wedding: keep the pink edge tidy and the eye narrow for a guest look. Choose the depth alongside the outfit and the actual invitation rather than assuming pale pink is the only appropriate route.

Celebration: use a clearer pink depth if you want the mouth to stand beside stronger clothes or jewellery. Keep the brown edge the same size so there is still one quick eye task.

Weekend: soften the brown boundary and wear a thinner even pink coat. The lip can supply the intentional detail beside a simple knit or casual jacket.

The five-minute estimate assumes familiar products and excludes usual preparation; give an unfamiliar eye movement more time. The kit needs a brown pencil, pink lip colour, clean small brush and mirror. Existing suitable products are enough. If time narrows, keep a careful short lash mark and finish the lip; leave the next optional product in the bag.
