Jenna Ortega-inspired deep plum lip with a quiet taupe lid in five minutes

Repair a patchy deep-plum lip locally, then keep the taupe lid quiet enough for the mouth to lead.

A fictional young adult woman with light-medium warm olive skin and dark hair wearing a deep plum lip with quiet taupe close to the upper lashes and a white neckline.

A deep plum mouth can look uneven even when the outline is careful. First work out whether you are seeing a pale patch, a thick edge or colour that has escaped a corner. Each needs a smaller correction than another coat over everything. This fast complement to our Jenna Ortega-inspired palette moves the plum depth to the lip and keeps taupe close to the eye.

Deep plum: repair the patch: Inspect centre and corners separately; Remove excess before adding more; Taupe stays close to the lashes.

A pale centre with a darker border

Relax the lips and look straight ahead. If the natural lip colour shows through an area you wanted opaque, place a little plum only there with a clean lip brush. Join it to the neighbouring colour using the product already on the brush. Avoid pressing a loaded bullet into both lips again: that can deepen a sound border while the original patch remains.

If the border is much thicker than the middle, remove some excess from that border first. A clean brush or your usual suitable lip remover gives you a way back without making the shape larger. Natural folds can remain visible in a finished lip; continuous colour does not require a completely smooth surface.

A corner that keeps growing

Colour outside the natural corner needs lifting, not extending. Clean just that small mark, let the area settle as the remover instructions require, and bring a tiny amount of plum inward from the boundary. Speak and smile in the mirror. If the corner pulls into a dark blob, remove that excess before adding anything else.

When taupe starts competing

Choose an eye-intended taupe shadow and use a clean eye applicator separate from the lip tool. Place a light amount on the external movable lid near the upper lashes, then soften its outer edge without carrying it to the brow. The taupe is a quiet backing, not a second smoky focal point. If it becomes darker than you wanted, lift some off locally; don’t surround it with more shadow to make it seem blended.

About five minutes is an estimate for this small routine after usual preparation and protection, using familiar products. If the lip needs a careful reset, omit the shadow today. Stop using a product if it irritates, and keep eye products within their intended area.

Choose the repair worth carrying

Everyday: make one thin, continuous plum layer the target. Leave taupe optional and check the centre after food rather than repeatedly filling an intact outline.

Weekend: keep the same depth but soften the outer lip boundary slightly with the clean brush. It changes the mood without adding a liner or a new eye step.

Holiday: pack the familiar plum and its suitable remover, with separate clean tools if you take taupe. Judge the colour in ordinary light before leaving; keep your usual protection routine intact and do not treat a lip colour as a substitute for it.

For the next attempt, change the amount at the lip centre and keep the shade the same. That shows whether the local correction helped.
